The Snake Hunter

We've been away for a while working on a new movie. In this video I lost my snake "MiMi" and Dad videotaped me searching high and low until we found her. What a reunion it was!

Remember the moral of the story...The only good snake is a live snake!

While we were filming we ran across these ants. Enjoy!

Mother's Milk - Liquid Gold

The birth of our daughter has given Tia something very powerful: the ability to produce breast milk. For the past 10 months we have been storing her milk in our deep freezer for Maya. However, Maya has decided that she is not too keen on drinking from a bottle which has left us with over 800 ounces of stored breast milk. That's a lot of milk shakes!

As we began to run out of room in our freezer we knew we had to do something with all of these reserves. We looked into donating Tia's milk to children in Africa or to local hospitals. Then, about 2 weeks ago we received a request from a local mom in need of breast milk for her 4-month old baby. This mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and due to her treatments she is unable to breast feed her newborn. She has expressed to the community that she wants to exclusively feed her baby breast milk and is asking anyone to donate milk that is less than 4-6 months old.

So we answered the call with over 100 ounces of milk! We felt so honored to be able to provide this family with nourishment for their newborn and to know that we have helped someone in need. Tia is going to continue to pump milk and try to provide as much as she can spare. If you are willing to donate milk and have any reserves please let us know and we will put you in contact with her to arrange pick-up.

Rapid. Eye. Movement.

Tonight we headed over to Walnut Creek to see REM. Wow, bringing back the memories tonight! It seems like we finally broke the heat wave (it soared above 100 again for the 5th straight day here). However, a nice breeze, ice cold water and some old time dancing tunes made for a great evening under the stars.

I played hard and crawled all over the lawn visiting everyone around us. If they had food or beer I went for it. I even tried to steal the milk from the 2 year old tot just up the hill from us. I was like a snake in the weeds stalking my prey and waiting to pounce when they least expected it. The only problem is that I am a baby and so no one was afraid of me and they all wanted to offer me their food. Dad and Mom had to step in and redirect me back to my own green beans.

"I want what that kid has!"

All that crawling and dancing wiped me out!

Diggin' in the dirt!

We finally planted the garden this morning and now have it loaded with some good eats...or soon to be good eats if the deer stay away. Last year we lost our entire crop to the deer so Dad constructed a mesh fence around it to keep them out. We planted tomatoes, squash, bell peppers, cucumbers, cantaloupe and various herbs. I tried to help as much as I could but playing in the dirt was actually more fun.

We are also fighting the heat right now and seem to be losing. Our AC is sick and has been for the past 3 days. They are not sure when they will have us up and running again and it sure was the wrong time to be without AC. They did bring us a window unit for our bedroom so our room is cool but the rest of the house is 87! With 105 degrees outside and 87 inside it has been a bit miserable. I think it's time for the pool!

Yet another photo with my mouth wide open.

Watering the tomatoes.

Playing in the thyme while Dad planted some monkey grass, daisies and coreopsis. The moles (and the drought) ate everything we planted last year so we are trying again. This time around we have a noise maker in the ground that will hopefully drive them out!

We are looking at probably one of the best years for our blueberry bushes this year.

The flowers around the house are in full bloom. And we even have some apples this year!

A late evening stroll around the hood.

Loving my ride!

I have started using my magic toadstool as a walker and now push it everywhere!
